Dawn Ceremony opens Medplus Devonport

Dec. 7, 2020

Medplus Devonport is now OPEN

Early this morning our Kaumatua, Mr John Retimana, did us the great honour of opening and blessing our new medical centre in Devonport. Our staff, their families and friends, and staff from Comprehensive Care PHO were all in attendance to mark this special occasion. John reflected that was almost 10 years ago since he opened our first Medplus, at Lake Road.

Whilst there are a few final alterations to be made, the new building at 29 Anne Street, has been renovated and decorated, transforming the space to be a bright, airy, and peaceful medical centre in the heart of Devonport. Dr Michele Hollis has done a fantastic job of breathing life into the old building whilst maintaining its character.

Drs Heidi MacRae and Michele Hollis will be primarily based at Anne Street, but will also have a weekly presence in Lake Road to ensure their existing patients have easy access to them. Dr Tanja Minic is based entirely at Anne Street. Dr Chen Luo will be primarily based at Lake Road but will have a weekly presence in Anne Street. Our GPs will have access to your medical records regardless of which centre you visit, and our telephone number is the same. Of course, whilst you can have face to face consultations at either site, you can also have video or telephone consultations if you prefer.

Medplus Devonport has 2 disabled parks outside the front door, and there is street parking in Anne Street, or parking outside New World. There is disabled access, and the receptionists are happy to help if you need assistance getting a wheelchair up the ramp.

Medplus Lake Road, at Hauraki Corner is where the weekend and evening service is provided, COVID swabs are taken, the Red Clinic happens (for those with respiratory illness symptoms) and where our minor surgery theatre is situated.

Please be very careful when booking that you know which site you have booked for. We are sending additional texts to patients booked at Anne Street to remind them of our address. Please also be careful when asking to pick up prescriptions – please identify which site you are choosing.

We do hope our new branch will offer more choice and convenience to those living in Devonport, Belmont, and Bayswater. If you are walking by, please pop your head in the door and have a little look inside. To come in we do still have to ask that you please wear a
